I have a corporate web store that needs a lot of coupon codes for prizes for their customers (somewhere around 1100 different codes over the next 3 months) - uploading these things one at a time is absolutely brutal. (especially since there is absolutely no way to speed this up at all)

Being able to do these in bulk would be extremely helpful. And before you suggest gift certificates - I can't do gift certificates because they have no idea who the discount is going to.
