It would be extremely helpful to have the option to issue a store credit directly while editing an order, even if this simply generated a new gift certificate tied to the customer’s account.
Example use cases:
1) If an item on a customer’s order is backordered, instead of refunding the original payment method, we could issue the customer a store credit that they can use later to select a replacement item at their convenience.
2) If a customer returns an item, having the ability to issue a store credit rather than processing a credit card refund would give both the customer and the store more flexibility.
This would streamline order adjustments, reduce unnecessary refunds, and provide a better overall customer experience while keeping revenue within the store.
