Resize DST files for mockups
Charles Emick Jr
the dst size is based off of what you have your print regions set as in manage product. You have the print regions set way to large!

Charles Emick Jr: Good to know. Still would like the option to adjust if needed
Charles Emick Jr
Liz Sperry: The only problem with that is the system is not going to increase stitch count its just going to stretch everything out and make it look horrible. I would rather not have them add another function that works adequately only half of the time.

Liz Sperry
Charles Emick Jr: I think it depends how you use the file. We are purely using for placement and relative size, not stitch counts.
Charles Emick Jr
Liz Sperry: We are too. But with the correct placement sizes and print areas there are no issues with the dst files setup as is for production and also used on proposals or stores for proofing.

Liz Sperry
Charles Emick Jr: Thanks, we will try that out!

Liz Sperry: same. We do all of that outside the system; this is to show the customer what they are ordering.

Charles Emick Jr: I don't want to have to create a separate art area for every possible size. I have one general "left chest" area specified and I use it for both EMB and SP and resize within that box depending the art we are using. Vector files have no problem resizing, but DST files won't/can't. It's useless to me to use a DST file.

Charles Emick Jr: We don't use the design studio. All our art is pre-digitized in house, we only place it on garments to show the customer what they are ordering. The Inksoft dimensions mean nothing on our end. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Charles Emick Jr
Kelly Leaman: Use the system how you want but if you aren't using it correctly, it will never give you the intended results.

Charles Emick Jr: "correctly" is subjective. InkSoft was marketed to us years ago as an alternative to paper order forms. It's only an ordering site for us, we have a decades-old established workflow outside of this that we aren't going to disrupt for a handful of projects. We were told that this platform would meet our needs and that many of the accounts use it as we do.
Charles Emick Jr
Kelly Leaman: I was just trying to help you out, even that is not good enough
K
Kelly Leaman
Charles Emick Jr: I'm not sure how you were trying to help by saying we were using the platform incorrectly, it felt rude and condescending to me. I was merely posting to explain how the system doesn't work for users like us if we wanted to use DST files instead of uploading vector art or image pngs. Sounds like we are using the parallel options so unfortunately what works for you won't work for us, and vice versa. :(
Charles Emick Jr
Kelly Leaman: I was trying to explain how to use the print regions correctly to set you up for success with DST files. I don't know how that is condescending. We add DST to items in stores and also proposals every day without issue, and they look correct. I apologize for trying to help. Have a great day

Charles Emick Jr: Ah, I see. I am aware of how to use the print regions, but all of the art we use is predetermined with a size/stitch count already, so it would be trying to retrofit the InkSoft area to match the existing art, which varies wildly, which is why I can't use a "one size fits all" print region on the product builders, I may not have been clear on that. I would like to be able to resize DST files the same way I can adjust vector files to make them look correct in the existing print regions without having to create a new region for each customer/logo/design, if that makes sense.
